Simon Burall – Director
Simon Burall is the Director of Involve. He has long and extensive experience the fields of democratic reform, governance, public participation, stakeholder engagement, and accountability and transparency. He has worked at the national level in Africa, Asia and Europe as well as on related issues of global governance and democracy.
Edward Andersson – Deputy Director
Edward Andersson is the Deputy Director of Involve, and an established expert on methods of participatory decision making. He set up peopleandparticipation.net – the UKs leading public engagement site, and has advised a number of organisations on public engagement strategies, including the Home Office, the European Commission, the OECD and numerous Local Authorities and Health Trusts. His research covers how to measure the business case for engagement, achieving efficiencies through engagement, and involving the public in the challenges of our ageing society.

Ingrid Prikken – Project Manager
Ingrid Prikken is Project Manager at Involve. Her work is focused on project management, project design, research and facilitation. Her research covers embedding public engagement in government and citizen participation in challenging issues.

Tim Hughes – Research Officer
Tim Hughes leads Involve’s research into how and why citizens engage, and what participation looks like from their perspective. He’s interested in how we can change the relationship between institutions and communities to better utilise the resources, skills, knowledge, creativity and energy in each.
Annie Quick – Researcher / Team Coordinator
Annie Quick joined Involve in October 2010 as the Researcher and Team Coordinator. As Team Coordinator she ensures the smooth running of the organisation. Annie’s background is in different methods of deliberation and participation. Before joining Involve, she worked on strengthening young people’s participation in education policy, including developing materials on participative methods such as citizens’ juries. She went on to work as a campaigner for democratic reform, and later as a freelance social researcher.

Janice Thomson – Associate EU Public Engagement Advisor
Janice Thomson is EU Public Engagement Advisor for Involve and is based in Brussels. Her work focuses on understanding and enhancing public participation at European Union level. She is currently developing projects, educational programmes and communications to expand Involve’s activities in this area.

Thea Shahrokh – Research Associate
Thea has worked for Involve since January 2009, she is on unpaid leave until the end of 2011. During this period she will be working as a Volunteering Advocacy Adviser with the VSO National Volunteering Programmeand the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport in Guyana. Thea will be posting a monthly blog on the Involve website to share her experiences, and what she has learnt about civic engagement and participation while in Guyana.
Clive Mitchell – Associate Local Government Associate
Clive Mitchell is the Local Government Advisor for Involve, and is based in the West Midlands. He has 30 years experience of working in and with local authorities, starting out as an Environmental Health Officer in London. He joined the Audit Commission in 2001, where he was regional lead for the Commission’s work on democratic renewal and public sector partnership working. He is now freelance, and will be supporting and developing Involve’s engagement with the local government sector.
Brendan Whitty – Public Engagement for Aid Accountability Associate
Brendan is supporting Involve in understanding the role of public engagement within the international development and aid sector. In particular, he will focus on how the development community balance the needs and interests of both the UK public and that of the recipient country.

Rosalie Callway – Associate Sustainability and Public Engagement Associate
Rosalie is supporting Involve in looking at the central role of public engagement in delivering sustainable development, identifying new opportunities for engagement, building the evidence base for how engagement can assist changing attitudes and behaviour, as well as ways to scale up engagement.
