Tim Hughes – Research Officer
Tim leads Involve’s research into how and why citizens engage, and what participation looks like from their perspective. He’s interested in how we can change the relationship between institutions and communities to better utilise the resources, skills, knowledge, creativity and energy in each.
Tim joined Involve in January 2011 to work on Pathways through Participation, a joint research project with NCVO and the Institute for Volunteering Research, which explored how and why people get involved and stay involved in different forms of participation over the course of their lives.
Before joining Involve, Tim worked for the National School of Government’s Sunningdale Institute on research projects covering topics including public sector innovation, governance and accountability, the evaluation of leadership development, and citizen, family and community centred public services. He was also a member of and contributor towards the NS6, an international partnership exploring the changing role of government.
Tim holds a Master of Public Administration (MPA) and a BA in Social Policy and Administration, both from the University of Nottingham.
