The Beacons for Public Engagement programme was launched in January 2008. The Beacons are university-based collaborative centres to help support, recognise, reward and build capacity for public engagement work in the higher education sector across the UK.
Involve is one of the partners of the Beacons’ National Coordinating Centre which is hosted by Bristol University and the University of the West of England.
The National Coordinating Centre will work strategically with Involve and other national partners, which includes the BBC, the Museums, Libraries and Archives, and the volunteering organisation V, to build networks across the Beacon institutions and provide training and support to promote public engagement in higher education across the UK.
