Board Members

Ian Christie

Ian Christie (Chair) is an independent researcher, writer and advisor on sustainable development and environmental issues. He is an associate of the think-tank Green Alliance and a visiting professor at the Centre for Environmental Strategy, University of Surrey. His previous roles include joint head of environment and economy at Surrey County Council; advisory work for Government Departments and public agencies; commercial consultancy for the Henley Centre for Forecasting; social research as a fellow of the Policy Studies Institute; and deputy/acting director of the think-tank Demos.

Geoff Mulgan

Geoff Mulgan is the director of the Young Foundation.  He worked in government between 1997 and 2004 in a variety of roles including director of the Government Strategy Unit and Head of Policy in No 10. Before that he was the founder and director of Demos.

Gareth Oakland - Treasurer

Gareth is a chartered accountant and a partner in PricewaterhouseCoopers - he has worked with a wide variety of public and commercial sector clients in the UK and around the world. He currently works with a range of government clients in health, transport and the regeneration of communities.

Andrew Acland

Andrew Acland, is a founding Director of Dialogue by Design  which provides electronic stakeholder engagement and consultation processes.  Andrew has worked as a mediator, facilitator and trainer in contexts ranging from the political, social and environmental to the legal, corporate and organisational for nearly twenty years. 

Diane Warburton

Diane Warburton co-founded Shared Practice in 2002.  Diane is an Honorary Fellow at the University of Brighton School of Applied Social Science, and is a founder member of the Involve Board with special responsibility for research projects.

Lee Bryant

Lee Bryant is a co-founder of  Headshift an on-line communication and community specialist with a focus on knowledge development. Lee has a strong belief in the  empowering potential of the Internet, and a commitment to the development of an international knowledge-based society

Lindsey Colbourne

Lindsey Colbourne is Chair of the Communications and Engagement Steering Group of the UK  Sustainable Development Commission and is a professional facilitator.

Michelle Harrison

Michelle Harrison is a Director of the Henley Centre and an Honorary Research Fellow of the University of Birmingham's Department of Geography.

Perry Walker

Perry Walker heads the democracy and participation programme at the New Economics Foundation.  He has pioneered many participative techniques, including Democs, an innovative debate game.

Archon Fung - Associate

Archon Fung is an Associate Professor of Public Policy at Harvard's John F. Kennedy School of Government. His research examines the impacts of civic participation, public deliberation, and transparency upon public and private governance.
