Principles for Effective Deliberative Public Engagement in Decision Making
Involve and the National Consumer Council together with Diane Warburton at Shared Practice and Lindsey Colbourne at the Sustainable Development Commission have produced a set of best practice principles to improve the quality and impact of deliberative public engagement processes. The production of the principles was informed by a series of stakeholder discussions that took place between November 2007 and April 2008. This involved a workshop and a roundtable discussion attended by civil servants and individuals who deliver public engagement activities. A draft of the principles was also available for comments on the Involve Wiki between February and April 2008.
The final document: Deliberative Public Engagement - Nine Principles can be downloaded for free here.
