By Sophie Blake

Sophie is Project Support Officer at Involve, working principally on NHS Citizen. She believes that all citizens should be able to play an active role in the decisions and processes that affect them.

Vacancy: Engagement Lead Scotland

Pay: £31,500 – £38,500

Hours: Full time – 35 hours a week

Start Date: As soon as possible

Location: Edinburgh, Scotland

This is a temporary position for twelve months, extension dependent on delivery and fundraising.

An exciting position is opening up at Involve, a think tank and charity committed to deepening democracy. We work to innovate and to inspire others to take up new democratic practices, as well as to embed best practice in engaging members of the public across government and the public policy sector.

We’re now recruiting for an Engagement Lead in Scotland to strengthen our work and build on emerging opportunities for democratic innovation in Scotland.

The appointment is for an initial period of twelve months. You will lead the development of our work and establish an Involve office in Scotland. You will build Involve’s networks in Scotland, and lead the development and delivery of a financially sustainable programme of projects that contribute towards Involve’s vision and strategy.

We look for something special in our staff members. With a passion for participation and long-lasting positive change, you will be an all-rounder with a strong background in deliberative public engagement, policy analysis, project management and facilitation. You’ll have the organisational skills, analytic abilities and relationship-building experience to test, learn from and adapt different approaches to engaging citizens. You’ll also be a self-starter, able to work independently and know when to draw in senior support.

The role will be pivotal to our growing organisation and the successful candidate will be joining Involve at a time of expansion, with opportunities to make a real difference and to create lasting change.
