Involve has today announced that Sarah Castell will be stepping down from the role of Chief Executive Officer. This transition is in line with a succession plan that Sarah had been considering for some time. Due to personal family matters, the timing of the handover has been brought forward slightly.

Sarah said: “I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved together at Involve. I had been planning to transition out around this time, but family considerations have accelerated that decision, and I believe this is the right moment to bring in fresh leadership to take Involve forward into its next chapter.”

The Board is grateful for Sarah’s outstanding service and leadership over her tenure.

Ed Cox, Chair of the Board, said: “Under Sarah’s guidance, Involve has continued to go from strength to strength and has taken its place as a mature and thought-leading organisation. She has developed a talented and committed team, delivering impactful programmes of work. We are proud that Involve has made big contributions to the deliberative ecosystem in the UK, including supporting the new Participatory Methods Forum in central government and hosting the Democracy Network.”

Sarah will be leaving the organisation in June, and Involve will adopt a co-leadership model until a successor is appointed. Steph Draper, currently Director of Innovation and Practice, and Carly Walker Dawson, currently Director of Capacity Building and Standards, will act as joint interim chief executives. They will be supported by the management team, which also includes Yas Alatthir, Director of Advocacy and Communications, and Gareth Bridges, Director of Finance and Support Services.
